Review: New Dietary Guidelines Reverse Flawed 60 Yr Old Recommendations on Cholesterol
From Mercola.com

Editors Note:  I was around  in the 60s and 70s when the Federal Government launched the war on fat in our diets saying it caused high cholesterol and that cholesterol in turn caused heat disease.   Well,  the government is finally admitting that after 60 years of research and literally hundreds of studies.. not one ever showed any correlation between high cholesterol and heart disease.  In fact:

“Not only does undamaged natural cholesterol not cause heart disease, it is actually one of the most important molecules in your body; indispensable for the building of cells and for producing stress and sex hormones, as well as vitamin D.”

A Time Magazine Report Goes further:

“[I]n the latest review6 of studies that investigated the link between dietary fat and causes of death, researchers say the guidelines got it all wrong. In fact, recommendations to reduce the amount of fat we eat every day should never have been made.”

Makes you wonder what the food industry is going to do now since all of this started the “Low Fat” food craze.  Prior to the 70’s, fat was very common part of food.  Its where a lot of the taste comes from or it was prior to this boondoggle.  When the government started pushing low fat the food industry started replacing dietary fats in processed food with “Sugar” and not long after that “High Fructose Corn Sugar”… because it was cheaper that real sugar.   Basically one bad idea followed by an even worst idea.

There’s a lot more to this… think of the patients on Cholesterol lowering drugs, what do they do now?  Doctors who prescribed the drugs, while ignoring the evidence they saw daily that the drugs weren’t doing anything to fix heart disease.  Drug companies and university labs who spent billions in research dollars to fix something that wasn’t broken. (Did they know it wasn’t broken?) Money that should have been spent researching the real cause of heart disease.

I could go on and on but suggest you see the entire article along with a video at:  Mercola.com
